![]() ![]() I personally play the shooting game early on and then start using vigors more as I upgrade my salt capacity throughout Finkton. I figure I resource gather so much I didn't need to be conservative. Personally, I combine shooting with close combat, omitting conservative measures. Good gear keeps you in the fight longer: killing provides salt, melee killing provides health, vigor chain effects, explosive melee damage. Most vigors don't work super well at distance, so heavy vigor use goes hand in hand with powerful, close combat weapons. Gear: shield buffers (faster recharge), extra damage when low on health, faster movement when shield broken. May make frequent use of possession and tears that do damage (gun automations, etc.). Gear to decrease reload times, increase magazine size, or increase damage for aiming down scope recommended. Hangs back with things like carbines and sniper rifles. In general, I'd say any given loadout is of a few types (or combinations of them): There are many different strategies that can be effective when it comes to gear loadout. The last 1/3 of the game can be spent upgrading health, which will provided and extra edge for the bigger, longer fights towards the end. By Emporia you can max these out (assuming you maxed out the shield first). I suggest upgrading salts next, as vigors will slowly start playing an important role in combat. You can have the shield fully upgraded by the time you're in Finkton. If you play conservatively, you shouldn't need a lot of health if you keep an eye on your shield. I suggest upgrading the shield first, as the beginning of the game is more gun focused, and the shield will keep you in the fight longer before you have to retreat. I'll talk more about this later.ĭoing the optional quests and searching corners for lockpicks will ensure you find plenty of infusions. you can pair Bucking Bronco with a lot of things, the choice is really yours and could depend of your gear loadout. Bucking Bronco uses the least amount of salt, so if you upgrade your salt capacity, you can spam it a LOT and pick people off. Once again, pick 2-3 vigors and upgrade only them. Duration increases are very helpful, but so are chaining effect increases. But by the time you're out of finkton you should be considering buying a few upgrades. ![]() Upgrades are more expensive and it takes longer to have access to many useful vigors. Vigors become more important later in the game. Purchase other upgrades for those guns as convenient.I suggest including at least one close range weapons like the shotgun or hand cannon (HC is nice because it actually has a lot of range too, and headshots kill almost any common enemy). I only upgraded the damage of each of these. I personally choose the carbine (it's the best all purpose weapon IMO), the shotgun, the hand cannon, and the RPG (for big damage on heavy hitters when needed). weapon choice is rarely forced by environment if you're thorough enough). If you scrounge, you should always have enough ammo regardless of whether or not you're in an area where common enemies use that gun (i.e. Weapons: Pick 2-4 weapons you want to specialize in and don't waste upgrades on anything but those. You'll find tons of infusions and by the time you're in Emporia you can have 2 of 3 choices maxed out. If you're vigilant, you can make 1999 mode MUCH easier.
